Attorney John J. Coughlin is Of Counsel at the Law Firm of Bogle & DeAscentis, P.C.
His practice areas include civil litigation, real estate, creditor's rights in bankruptcy, municipal law, corporations, wills, trusts and probate of estates.
In addition to his private practice of law he also previously served for ten years as the Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Fall River. In that position he represented the municipality in all areas of municipal law including civil litigation, eminent domain, contracts, zoning, licensing, civil service and labor arbitrations. He represented the municipality in numerous civil litigation cases in both state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
Prior to joining Bogle & DeAscentis, P.C., he was with the law firm of McGuire & Coughlin, P.C., where he handled civil litigation, real estate, municipal law, corporations, wills, trusts and probate of estates. Attorney Coughlin left that firm upon the appointment of his fellow attorney Thomas F. McGuire, Jr., as a judge in the Superior Court of Massachusetts.
He is admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; United States District Court, Massachusetts; United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit; and the Supreme Court of the United States.
He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association; Bristol County Bar Association; Massachusetts Bar Foundation; and Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association.
He is a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston, MA (1994), with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA, (2000) with a J.D. law degree. While in law school he was an author and staff member for the Suffolk Transnational Law Review.
Attorney John J. Coughlin was named as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer Rising Star in Boston Magazine 2009.
He resides in Fall River, Massachusetts with his wife and two children.
